At Chepstow School, we are deeply committed to fostering a safe, respectful and fully inclusive environment where every learner feels valued, supported and able to thrive. We take all forms of bullying extremely seriously and act promptly and robustly to address concerns, reflecting both Welsh Government guidance on safeguarding and wellbeing and the expectations outlined within Estyn’s focus on inclusive, supportive school communities. Our clear and comprehensive Anti-Bullying Policy has been developed in partnership with our students, ensuring their voice informs how we prevent, identify and respond to incidents. We proactively embed anti-bullying education across the school through Anti-Bullying Week, purposeful tutor time activities, and our progressive Health and Wellbeing curriculum, equipping learners with the knowledge, empathy and confidence to challenge unacceptable behaviour. Leadership of this vital area sits with our Deputy Headteacher, Lisa Lane, ensuring a strategic and whole-school approach that prioritises pupil voice, equity and wellbeing. Through these approaches, and in line with national priorities, Chepstow School continues to demonstrate a strong culture of care, respect and inclusion in which all members of our community can succeed.
Our school is proud to have an exceptional team of student Bullying Ambassadors who play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing of our community. These highly trained students offer peer mentoring for anyone who may have experienced bullying, providing a safe, supportive space where individuals can access personalised guidance and reassurance. Having received bespoke training, our Ambassadors are equipped to respond sensitively and effectively, helping to build confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging across the school. They actively contribute to promoting a culture of kindness and respect by leading workshops, delivering assemblies, and organising themed events and calendared awareness days that educate and empower their peers. As visible and approachable role models, they embody and uphold our school values in everything they do. Their contribution is truly invaluable, and their work is led and supported by Mrs Lane, Deputy Headteacher, ensuring a strong and consistent commitment to safeguarding and inclusion for all students.
