Component 1 - Personal Creative Enquiry Non-exam KEY INFORMATION
Assessment 100% of qualification An extended, exploratory
project/portfolio and outcome/s based on themes and
subject matter which are personal and meaningful to the Level: Advanced and AS Level
learner. The enquiry must integrate critical, practical and
theoretical work. Work is to be completed and assessed so
that centre marks are submitted to WJEC by the Examining board: WJEC
May deadline.

Year 13 – A2

A2 Component 1 - Personal Investigation Non-exam Entry Requirements:
Assessment 60% of qualification Consists of two integrated GCSE C or above in GCSE Art or
constituent parts: A major in-depth critical, practical and GCSE Graphics
theoretical investigative project/portfolio and outcome/s
based on themes and subject matter that have personal
significance. An extended written element of 1000 words Modules:
minimum, which may contain images and texts and must
clearly relate to practical and theoretical work using an Assessment method:
appropriate working vocabulary and specialist terminology. Examinations
The Personal Investigation is internally assessed by the
centre (ensurings that marks are submitted to WJEC by the

A2 Component 2 - Externally Set Assignment
Non-exam Assessment 40% of qualification. The externally
set assignment materials are to be released to candidates on
or after February of the second year of the A level course.
The start and finish dates of the initial preparatory study
period and the 15 hour sustained focus study are determined
by the centre but will need to take into account the May
deadline for the submission of marks to WJEC. Work is
internally assessed and externally moderated.
