MATHEMATEG
The Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and Advanced Level (A2) courses in Mathematics have been designed to provide
a complete course in Mathematics for those who wish to proceed further in the subject. We aim to provide a firm
mathematical foundation for those who wish to pursue further study of mathematics or a closely related subject and
to complement other studies and provide support for those taking AS/A2 courses in other subjects. Students following
Advanced Level Mathematics courses are expected to have gained a grade A in the subject at GCSE level. Students
who have gained a B or equivalent Grade at GCSE will be considered on an individual basis. All students study pure
mathematics, and a combination of statistics and mechanics. The new course is divided into a total of four units, 2 AS
units and 2 A2 units. They are differently weighted.
