On Friday March 4th, we celebrated our Annual Eisteddfod with Years 7 and 8. In the run up to the day, students had been competing in subject competitions and on the day, we were treated to a plethora of on-stage delights. Running with Scissors opened the show with their version of the Stereophonics hit, Dakota. We also had the singing sensations Jessica Ham and Olivia O’Reardon with the classic Oes gafr eto? along with instrumental performances. The house choirs battled it out and Usk’s version of Lleucu Llwyd won the title for such enthusiastic singing. Other memorable performances were the Kitchen Band, led by Joe Wilding, Year 7’s drama sketch and Miss Martinez and Mr Morgan’s unique story and sound ensemble. The winner of this year’s Cadair yr Eisteddfod was Hannah Windos-Jones from Wysg for her impressive Haiku about daffodils. Once again, Gwy won the Eisteddfod and a delighted Mr Robson graciously accepted Y Ddraig Goch on stage. A big “Diolch” to all who helped make this event successful once again, especially to Isabella Bason and Joseph Walliker who presented the afternoon’s performances so wonderfully. We would also like to thank Tesco Chepstow for supplying a Welsh feast for our students and staff on the day.
